What can I expect as a visitor to your church?
Expect a warm welcome, but not to be singled out or embarrassed in any way during service. We won't ask you to stand up and introduce yourself, etc. We know it's awkward enough just walking into a group full of strangers and adjusting to a church service you might be unfamiliar with.
But we will be genuinely happy to have you! You'll be given a service leaflet that will help you follow the service, a hymnal and a prayerbook. If you are confused about anything, feel free to tap your neighbor on the shoulder and ask for help. We will also look forward to chatting with you after the service, where we enjoy snacks and coffee and fellowship.
What should I wear?
You will find among our parishioners everything from jeans and oilfield boots to skirts and suits. It is more important to us that you feel comfortable just coming in, regardless of your wardrobe.
Can I take Communion as a visitor?
A baptized member of any church may partake in Communion with us, regardless of denomination.
Should I wait until I can get a babysitter for the kids?
Absolutely not! We welcome your children. Kathy Moncrief (Fr. Marv's wife) heads up the children's ministry and will be very happy to provide age-appropriate Bible study and fun in the children's room. She recommends that you come a bit early so the children can meet her and she can show both you and them the kids room so they'll know what to expect. The children normally attend the first part of the church service with their parents, and then are taken to the kids room for their activities and brought back in around the time of communion. All of this can be adjusted according to what you are comfortable with.
What if I'm not yet a Christian? What if I'm just curious? What if I have a really bad history? What if.....
Church is not a haven for saints - It's a hospital for sinners.
Please, just come. We mean it when we say that all are welcome. That means YOU.
